- Second Step (Social Skills)- Asking for what you need or want while using "please" and "thank you"
- Identifying rhyming words and matching rhyming pairs
- Copying, extending, and creating patterns
- Clapping out the number of syllables in our names and shoe words- clap it, snap it, stomp, it, count it (in case your child is doing this at home and you are wondering what they are doing:)
- Using positional words (above, below, beside, under, inside, in between, behind)
- Comparing stories read in class and identifying real/pretend things in a story. Ex: "Alligator Shoes" Do alligators really wear shoes?
- Story elements- setting (world), problem (magnifying glass), main character (star)
- Identifying parts of a book (front cover, back cover, spine, title page)
- Sentence scramble- Students helped the teacher cut apart a sentence by letting the teacher know when there was a space in between words. The teacher cut the sentence "Silly Sally went to town." Students then helped to put the sentence back together using clues (initial sound, uppercase letters (beginning and names), and punctuation (sentence stopper)
- Creating and interpreting data in a graphing activity "Favorite Type of Shoes"
