Second Step Social Skills- Saying the problem
Book Study- "Two Cool Coyotes" We focused on the story elements "problem" in the story and the "feelings" of the characters throughout the story.
In small groups this week, we continued to measure actual-sized images of animals using linking cubes, created lists of our favorite animals to develop our handwriting skills, explored pictures of the cactus plant and used Play-Doh and tooth picks to create a our own cacti, and learned about several desert animals (horned lizard, coyote, roadrunner, and javelina) and then selected our favorite one to draw and describe.
Sight words: "a" and "and"
Oral Language- Sorting jungle and desert words and images
Alphabet Knowledge- The teachers sang the ABC's in the incorrect order (students thought that was pretty funny) and the students constructed the alphabet back together in the right order on the interactive board.
Math- Patterns (AB, ABC, AABB) and comparing objects and using terms "more" and "less" to describe quantities.
Science- Taste-testing products from the rainforest (chocolate, pineapple, mango, papya, and coconut)
